I am going to go mad! There is only so much decorating and organizing that a person can do before they go completely insane. I’ve decided to go out and buy a broom, since I’ve wanted one for awhile, and it’s almost my birthday. I know Harry was going to get one for me, but he hasn’t had time, so I’m going to take care of it. I thought about going to Quality Quidditch Supply, but I want to check out the new broom shop in Diagon Alley first.
I get myself dressed, wishing I had something better to wear to hide the baby, but this baby t-shirt will have to do. I’m seven months pregnant now, and I am all baby. If I were taller, like Fleur, I suspect it wouldn’t be as noticeable, but as it is, the world is going to find out some day. I don’t think Harry would be too chuffed with me for going out by myself, but I’ll be really close to my brothers’ shop if I need something, so I’m not worried.
I floo to The Leaky Cauldron and wave hello to Tom before heading in to Diagon Alley. I can still Apparate, but it’s getting uncomfortable now, so I avoid it when I can. Quickly, and with my head down, I make my way through the bustling streets to get to Travetti's Special Brooms. I’ve heard that the proprietor, Nicolas Poliakoff is a master with creating specialized brooms.
I walk in to find a tanned man with blond hair and blue eyes waiting at the counter. “Hello,” I greet him happily. “I am interested in a custom broom.”
He smiles. "Well that's good. I'm Eli. Well the first place I can direct you to is to the middle of the room, where we have a large catalogue that lists everything we have." He steps out from behind the counter and points to a rotating stand. "It lists everything in categories. Different types of woods, anti hex spells, protection charms, everything."
“All right,” I reply and move over to the catalogue, beginning to look through it. Several different wood types are available and I look through them, debating what I want. Yew would be good, but I think holly might be more of my style and temperament. “I think I would want holly, with the works on the spells. I plan to use it mainly to race and I play chaser with my brothers, so speed is necessary.”
"Well," another voice speaks up this time, and it's not Eli, "I always appreciate those who order brooms with speed. I just did one for a Charlie Weasley, but I do hope you plan on waiting a few months."
I turn to find a tall, dark haired man that I assume is Nicolas. By the look he’s giving me, I can tell he knows I’m pregnant. Well, no sense in denying it. “No, of course not. So you made one for Charlie?”
He smiles. "I made two actually, since he needed two for his new job." Nicolas glances at Eli. "I can take care of this. Can you take of Mr. Morgan? He's here to pick up his three brooms."
"Sure. Need me to finish up the Abastor order?"
"And the Corrigan's order. A lot of multi order brooms these days."
Eli nods and walks away, as Nicolas turns to me. "I'm Nicolas Poliakoff. And you?"
I feel an eyebrow rise, not sure I want to give that up if he doesn’t know, but I’m not sure it really matters. “Ginny Potter, Charlie’s my brother.”
